I want to delve further into the subject of marketing on Facebook. In the last week I have generated a ton of traffic and 29 leads using these methods on Facebook.
When marketing on Facebook remember that your profile page should not be a place filled with advertising for your business. However, your Facebook profile is a place for you to express yourself. So if you are excited about your company or business of course you will have information about it on your page. You’ll want a link to your blog or a squidoo page you have created in your work info area. Then that middle page should link to your capture page that you are ultimately promoting.
If you have a personal testimony about how your product has changed your life or how your business has changed your lifestyle then include a video on your profile about it.
We also discussed creating groups and pages for your business. Make sure to become a member yourself and a fan of your page. In doing this they will appear on your profile.
Facebook groups are awesome because the members of your groups have the name of the groups they are members of posted on their profile page and the profile page generates a lot of traffic. The reason it generates a ton of traffic is that people just love to surf on profile pages and see pictures and learn little tidbits about other people. A few great features of groups are that you can easily invite your friends to become a part of them and members of the group can easily invite their friends to become members.
Facebook pages are an easy way for you to brand your business. You can also send a message to all members and unlike groups it gives you the opportunity to add HTML, Flash and other Facebook applications. However, your fans are not able to invite their friends to become fans of your page.
The notes and photos features on your Facebook profile page are great for you to talk about events in your life…exciting trips you’ve taken because of your business, the lifestyle you can enjoy because of it, etc. are great options for you to attract people to your home business. Have fun with these and show people your real personality through these options. The more you update on the page the more you will be visible in your friends news feed on their profile.
The key is first to find as many friends as possible. If you are not careful you can be reported for friending spam. You can have your account shut down for doing that. So be careful and make sure to always include some kind of message as to why you would consider adding them.
The best rule is to follow is to be open and honest on Facebook…don’t be tricky and don’t just put garbage ads up…also remember when you post information present it as and have the focus in your mind…”how can my offer benefit those who will see this ad?” Never approach writing an ad or posting information with the idea that you are going to make a lot of money. It will never work. Always write benefit laden content. Give away your best content to attract your prospects to you.

Here is another great tip on using facebook to market your opportunity. This applies especially when you are targeting home business owners and in particular network marketers. You obviously are not going to hard sell them into your current company. Other networkers are won over to another company not because of a product or comp plan, but because of leaders that they build a relationship and feel that they offer enough value to warrant the change. Don’t get me wrong, the product and the comp plan play a role in the decision, but primarily we’ll be won over by the prospects of working with a leader.
Therefore, the best thing you can do is create a system that provides value to other networkers by teaching them how to prospect, recruit and generate leads. Then without being pushy offering them the opportunity to click on a link at the bottom of your email with a description, etc. If you provide enough value to them they will be attracted to you and the company that you are in.
Here are the steps you need to take to have value to offer.
1. Read books and go through training courses. Read them again and again and apply them again and again. Become an expert on something. It isn’t hard to do.
2. Offer the knowledge and value that you have acquired without any cost. Help as many people as you can without expecting anything in return.
3. Via auto-responder, a website, newsletter, etc. very carefully give them the opportunity to click on a link for your primary business. Add the link to your signature line with a promotional statement or put a link on your website.
One great way to do this is through Facebook groups. Here are the steps to take to build a substantial group.
1. Build a Friend list of likeminded home business owners of 500 to 2000.
2. Start a generic home business training group and invite each of them to join it.
3. 2 to 5 times a week post valuable information on it. Include a link somewhere to your website that gives them the opportunity to look deeper. Include a link to your generic industry training blog that then has a link to your primary business on it.

Here are five rules to marketing on Facebook.
1. Act like a “normal” user and not a marketer-add friends and use an intro message, interact with people, etc.

3. Don’t send out spammy messages marketing to your friends in mass emails on facebook
4. Do start a marketing page for your business after you have built a base of minimally 400 friends.
5. Do start a group so that people can interact and post questions and comments about your business
The normal user on Facebook looks for new friends on other friends sites. Don’t just add them to friends though. You must type a message of introduction of yourself and how you know them. If you don’t do that some will consider it spam.
Find old friends, join groups you are interested in and post on them. Interact with your friends, update what you are doing now, write on people’s wall, post videos and have fun with it.
Interacting with people on Facebook is similar to interacting with people in the real world. You aren’t going to just go up to your friends and start harassing them about your new pyramid business. You are going to fit it into the conversation in a casual way that interests them and leave it at that without pushing them. You will quickly give them the info to create interest and let them decide if they want to pursue it. Oh, that is if you are going to do it the right way instead of the old school begging, pleading and scolding for not joining your business.
The same thing applies with just sending out a mass Facebook email about your business. It’s spammy and people react very negatively to it on Facebook. They’ll report it as spam and you can lose your page.
Once you have a good base of friends I recommend you start a page for your business. Always present your business on your page with HOW it benefits others, with a HOW TO statement or a DISCOVER or a LEARN opening piece so that people that are intrigued with that subject would click through and learn about how you can help them and build value in their lives. Invite them to interact and discuss and ask questions. Keep things positive even if you get negative comments. People will see the discussion and find out you are a great person if you handle it correctly. They will want to do business with someone who is professional and they can see they handle objections and issues with fairness and kindness.
Finally start a group about your business that offers the opportunity for people to join it and start interacting as a group about your business.
The best thing to market on Facebook is you and the knowledge and the value you have to offer. It honestly won’t work the best to market your MLM company directly. Market your own personal capture page that offers a email boot camp or Magnetic Sponsoring or Building on a Budget. Keep it informational.
Know also that beyond simply giving you results directly on Facebook google and other search engines love Facebook so as they see your URL’s on it and interlinked on various sites within Facebook they will give you a higher search engine ranking!
