There are thousands upon thousands of web 2.0 guru’s that will cause you to depart with your money more easily than Elizabeth Taylor departs from her husbands. And of course they’ll teach you important knowledge in regards to web 2.0, the best sites to use, how to use them, etc. But there is something important you need to understand.
There are such a multitude of different ways to market in web 2.0 that your head will spin if you try to do them all at once. You’ll never have the time and you’ll end up working harder doing that than you do at revenue generating activities plus you’ll waste about 4 to 6 months of your life with a scatter brained marketing campaign that has no distinct plan to it.
I’ve been there and I’ve done that. Here’s what my mind used to do when I would sit down at my computer, “I need to write two squidoo posts today and post comments on 2 squidoo articles that I also need to spend time reading. I need to post 3 Craigslist articles, write one blog post, shoot, I should really get around to making that video and wait a minute I need to fix my google adwords campaign, oh my goodness, I forgot write that ezine article yesterday, I have to get to that today. I need to send out a message to my facebook group, but first I need to update my profile and whoops I need to add more people to my group, wait I also need to add more friends.” And on and on and on, but in the meantime you have no focus, no distinct expertise that your business is suffering from no revenue and you are suffering from a headachine, neck ache from staring at your computer and your spouse is wondering if they will be able to pry you away from the computer for five minutes of “quality time” aka you talking about the great dreams you have for your home business!!
What’s the solution to the information and project overload??
Number one you need to focus. Pick 1 medium, focus on it and become an expert at it. Spend 90 days consistently doing this one activity and master it. Then you can move on from that and add other mediums. What you’ll find out is that you will begin to generate some leads and traffic from that one specific activity and when you start to generate revenue doing that guess what you can do? You can hire someone to work on another aspect of your business which if done properly will in turn generate more revenue.
If you’d like to become an expert at something and you don’t have a lot of money to spend on a course about it that is fine to. If you search hard enough you can find information throughout the internet on that given subject. If you want that information condensed into one place then find a specific course on it. I highly recommend you master one of the five activities found in Building On A Budget. The course is quite inexpensive and if you pick one of the five tactics and master it you will be well on your way to generating more leads using web 2.0.
Enjoy!
